Namibian-German artist Max Siedentopf set up an installation of six speakers that play Africa by Toto on an infinite loop in an undisclosed spot Somewhere amid the sand dunes of the world’s oldest desert croons a soft voice: “It’s gonna take a lot to take me away from you.” The voice belongs to the American band Toto, whose hit song Africa has been indefinitely tethered to an undisclosed spot in the Namib coastal desert thanks to Namibian-German artist Max Siedentopf.

Alkaline Trio has released a new single from their upcoming album. The song, “Blackbird,” comes off of Is This Thing Cursed? , which is due out August 31st on Epitaph Records . The album will be their first studio release since 2013’s My Shame Is True .
Richard Swift has died. The singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer was hospitalized last month with an undisclosed life-threatening condition. Pitchfork reports that he passed away this morning in a Tacoma, Washington hospital.
